It’s that time of the year when, with North Coast Music Festival behind Chicago’s shoulders, dance music fans in the Midwest used to lament that festival season was over.
But all of that changed last year when React Presents launched not one but two brand-new festival experiences during the colder months of the year. The first, Freaky Deaky, takes place on Halloween Weekend at Toyota Park, while the second coincides with New Year’s Eve and is held indoors in Rosemont.
Both festivals launched with a bang, with many (including ourselves) believing that they were possibly React’s strongest outings in Chicago last year, surpassing other events with more longevity such as North Coast itself and Spring Awakening Music Festival. A quick reminder of our reviews for both Freaky Deaky and Reaction NYE confirm that overall results were extremely positive.
This year, Freaky Deaky is returning to Toyota Park on Halloween Weekend for three days of music featuring 50+ artists spanning multiple genres. This year’s headliners include UK brothers DISCLOSURE (DJ Set), TIËSTO, one of trap and pop music’s most esteemed contributors DJ SNAKE, DJ Mag’s #1 electronic act DIMITRI VEGAS & LIKE MIKE, the master of success DJ KHALED, and hip hop’s Top Dawg SCHOOLBOY Q, coming off his sophomore album, Blank Face.
The underground side of dance music is also well represented with JAMIE JONES, LEE FOSS, GUY GERBER and MK all scheduled to play. The highlight will be DUBFIRE‘s return to Toyota Park, when he will finally be bringing his Hybrid Live set to Chicago for the first time ever.
We teamed up with React Presents to offer you the chance of winning 2 (two) GA tickets to this year’s Freaky Deaky. For a chance to win our contest, simply follow the instructions in the widget below. The winner will be selected and announced at noon on Thursday, October 20th.
